Calgary Airport And Parking: Everything You Need To Know

An Introduction To Calgary Airport Parking

Heading to Calgary Airport? There are a range of parking options available on-site! You can find short and long-term spaces, as well as pick-up and drop-off zones. However, please note that all the spots are allocated on a first-come, first-served basis - so no reservations possible. Plus, there are also accessible bays for disabled drivers in all the lots. Enjoy your trip!

On-site Short-term Parking

If you're looking to find a spot quickly, Parkade 1 (P1) is the closest option to the Domestic Terminal and Parkade 2 (P2) is right near the International one. It's just a quick walk away from each concourse so you won't have trouble getting there. The short-term parking areas at both locations can accommodate you for as little as 30 minutes or up to 30 days, but there's a fee for each half-hour. The first half-hour is the most affordable, then it gets more expensive after that. So if you're only going to be away for a short time, it's best to take advantage of the short-term parking option.

The Ultimate Guide to Calgary Airport Parking

On-site Long-stay Parking

If you need long-term parking at Calgary Airport, head to Parkades 1 and 2 on levels P2, P4, P5, P6 and P7. You can park here for hourly rate, daily rate or even weekly rate. The great news is the weekly rates are discounted - so this is a convenient and cost-effective option for stays up to 60 days. For even cheaper rates, check out the ‘Economy Lot’ – it’s a short walk from the terminal and you can stay for up to 60 days at discounted weekly rates. Finally, there's the 'Park & Jet' parking lot - run by a third party. Here you'll find hourly rates, daily rates and weekly rates - plus you can pre-book if that's easier. It might be a bit further from the terminal but there's a regular shuttle bus to make sure you don't miss your flight. Happy parking!

On-site Pick-up Zones

Are you picking someone up from the Calgary Airport? Don't forget about the Cell Phone Lot! This is where you should park once you get there. When they call and let you know they've arrived, just head to one of the designated pick-up zones by doors 1 & 2, 5 & 6, 9 & 11, 14 & 15, or 16 & 17. Easy peasy!

On-site ‘overheight’ Parking

The 'overheight' parking area is located right across from the Parkade 1 multi-story, and it's specially designed for vehicles that are taller than 6.5 feet (two meters). So if you've got a larger car, then this is the perfect spot for you.

History Of Calgary Airport

Calgary Airport has come a long way since it began in 1914 with just a grass strip runway and a run-down hut that acted as the terminal. It was located in Bowness, about two and a half miles away from where it stands now. In 1928, it became the Calgary Municipal Airport at Renfrew before being renamed McFall Field in 1938 at its current location. In 1966, it was purchased by Transport Canada for two million dollars and became known as Calgary International Airport. Since then, the airport has continued to expand and upgrade, starting with a new terminal built in 1977 and further expansion work done in 1992. Its most ambitious project to date is probably the International Terminal, which on Halloween 2016 and now houses nearly 200 shops, restaurants, service outlets and even two hotels. Plus, there are eight children’s play areas for families looking to pass the time! Today, Calgary Airport is a world-class facility that has become an integral part of Alberta's transportation system. It's no wonder it's such a popular destination!
