The Top Best Oakland Airport Parking Options

Short-term Parking

If you're looking for convenience when dropping off or picking up travelers at the airport, check out the short-term hourly parking area just behind Premier Parking in the main lot. It's only seconds away from the terminals and charges in 12-minute increments – perfect for quick trips! Plus, there's also a daily rate if you need to stay close to the terminals for a bit longer.

Daily Parking

Just a short one-minute walk away from the terminals lies the daily parking lot, which is larger than the hourly parking area. It's perfect for those taking weekend trips or a quick business trip.

Finally, if you're looking for a great value option for a longer trip or holiday, the economy parking lot is your best bet! It's located right next to the main lot and many of the spaces are closer to Terminal 2 than those in the daily parking lot. So don't miss out on this fantastic opportunity when you fly from Termina 2!

Location Of Oakland International Airport

Oakland International Airport is conveniently located just 10 miles from the center of Oakland and 20 miles from downtown San Francisco. It sits on Bay Farm Island, close to Alameda and I-880. You can easily get there by a variety of public transport options like BART railway (which has 3 lines connecting OAK at Coliseum station), Amtrak link to BART at Jack London Square Station, and AC Transit bus shuttle from Fruitvale and Alameda. It's the perfect way to get around this beautiful city!

History Of Oakland International Airport

Oakland International Airport opened way back in 1927, with a runway that was the longest in the world at the time! It quickly became a hub of historic flights, including those by Charles Kingsford Smith and Amelia Earhart. By the end of 1927 commercial flights started taking off with Boeing Air Transport and TWA leading the charge. The 1950s saw a true Jet-Age terminal take off, with Western, American, TWA, United, Transocean and Pacific Southwest Airlines setting up routes. Then came airline deregulation in the 1970s, encouraging low-fare carriers to come to OAK. This was followed by a series of enhancement programs right through the 2000s. Unfortunately, the airport was hit hard by airline closures during the recession of 2007, but it has bounced back in no time and is now nearly as busy as ever with record numbers of passengers every year!
